Reiki is a contemplative practice, not healthcare. Sits outside R.Ac scope and isn't a replacement for medical or mental health care.
Reiki (霊気) is a Japanese practice developed by Mikao Usui in the early twentieth century. The practitioner places their hands lightly on or just above the body in a sequence of positions. That's the whole method. It's quiet, it's structured, and it's taught across a short lineage from Usui onward.
You arrive, you lie down fully clothed on a treatment table. I work through the hand positions. Sixty minutes. You can talk or not talk. The room is quiet, low-lit, warm.
People come to Reiki for different reasons. Quiet time that isn't meditation and isn't therapy. Curiosity. A complement to practices they are already doing. None of those are medical indications, and I won't frame them as such.
You don't need to know anything. You don't need to believe anything. You don't need to prepare anything. Come in, lie down, breathe, see what the hour is like. If it's your thing, it'll be your thing. If it isn't, that's useful information too.
Distance Reiki runs over phone or video. Same length, same hand-position sequence, no physical contact. People book distance when they're out of town, when travel is hard, or when they just prefer being in their own space for the hour. The work is the work.
Trained in the Usui Reiki lineage through to Master Teacher, the highest level in the tradition.
Mikao Usui taught different students differently. Most Reiki that reached the West comes through Chujiro Hayashi's clinical branch, emphasizing treatment protocols and hand positions for physical conditions. Other students received what runs closer to spiritual transmission. My lineage comes through the latter strand. What you get in a session is still Reiki as the form is recognized worldwide. What sits behind it is the spiritual line of the tradition rather than the clinical one.
My Reiki sifu (师父) is Andrieh Vitimus, a practicing priest and shaman. The line runs back through a witch who practiced magic, who was his teacher. This is a distinct training relationship from the clinical-style Reiki that's most commonly taught.
Reiki is offered as a distinct practice from the clinical acupuncture work. The two are not combined within a single session.
